Founded in 2002 by brothers Richard and Bernard D’Offay, Trois Freres Distilleries is the Seychelles leading distiller and proudly produces the now famous Takamaka rum brand.
Our distillery and barrel aging program is based at the site of the historical La Plaine St Andre homestead, which has been brought back to life by Trois Freres through a long term investment with the oversight of the Seychelles Heritage Foundation.
Takamaka rum in its many forms is now enjoyed widely by residents and visitors alike and has a fast growing list of importers and export markets around the world that are a part of this Iconic Seychelles success story.
Richard is an entrepreneur at heart who has started and successfully exited numerous businesses during his career. He is a driven and passionate individual which shines through in his management style having successfully lead Trois Freres Distillery since 2002.
Bernard is a serial entrepreneur who has started several successful businesses during his career. He is a creative individual and successful investor. He also runs a successful self-catering accommodation business.
Duncan has an extensive legal background working for over 30 years as a lawyer in the corporate/M&A and projects fields in Europe, Asia and the Middle East for leading international law firms Allen & Overy LLP and Clifford Chance LLP and more recently in General Counsel roles for international groups. Duncan brings a strong legal and commercial acumen to the board as the company seeks to expand its business through domestic acquisitions and licensing and in the international markets through establishment of a global network of importers and distributors.
Mark has extensive commercial and leadership experience in International business spanning Asia, Middle East and US, with specific expertise in the alcoholic drinks industries. Mark brings a global perspective to the ambitions of the Trois Freres Distilleries business and is a key contributor to the development of the companies vision and growth. He has worked extensively on brand and distribution development for luxury global spirits companies including Diageo, Williams Grants & Sons, Bacardi Martini and Remy Cointreau, amongst others.
Klaus is currently the Chief Investment Officer of ADNOC - the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company. Klaus joined the Group in 2020 to head the Group Strategic Investments function. Prior to joining ADNOC, Klaus spent over 20 years in the financial service industry including 17 years at Morgan Stanley and more recently for 3 years as the Chief Financial Officer of a construction group in Saudi Arabia. His experience in the international financial markets is particularly relevant to the board at Trois Freres as it stewards the transformation and expansion of the business from the Seychelles into the international sphere.
Mrs. Bernstein holds a Masters of Arts (MA) in Diplomacy and International Studies and Bachelor of Arts with Honours (BA) in Politics and Journalism. She is currently the Head of Marketing and Corporate Relations and Head of Customer Experience of Absa Bank (Seychelles) Limited (“Absa”) and also oversees and drives Absa’s Community and Social initiatives. Mrs. Bernstein’s previous positions include the Head of Brand and Name Change at Absa; before which she served as a Diplomat with the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Seychelles; having served as Principal Counsellor and Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of the Republic of Seychelles in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia working with the African Union; and Press Attaché of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Seychelles.
